UK Post Study Work Visa

The UK Government have introduced a post-study visa for international students who wish to stay in the UK for two (2) years after they graduate to find work. The UK has been an international student hub for some time now, attracting some of the best students from all corners of the world. Now, with this newly announced graduate route, seems like international students will have yet one more reason to pursue a qualification in the UK.

The post-study visa is open to all academic disciplines on a full degree (not short-courses, language training courses, Baccalaureate, or A-levels) in licenced visa sponsors (universities. The UK Government has the complete list here. Universities are not expected to act as sponsors to graduates on a post-study work visa, after they finish their studies. This means that students are not required to obtain a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to apply for the Graduate Route.

To obtain the UK post-study work visa, students will be required to apply before their Tier 4 visa expires. The application process will be made within the country, and it will require a fee of £700. Holders of the UK post-study work visa will also be required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge at the full rate of £624 per year, just like with other migrant categories. Students will also need to know the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) they used for their most recent Student (or Tier 4) application to apply for the Graduate Route.
